One of the things I miss from Finland is the variety of fresh berries in the summer. In this photo there's some red currant, rhubarb, cherry and a mint leave enjoyed over vanilla icecream. All fresh from the garden - yummy!
The Finnish forests are full of berries at the end of the summer and for the most part they're free for anyone to pick up. The most common varieties are lingonberry and blueberry, with rasberry also quite common. Forest strawberry (a smaller version of the regular strawberry) is a delicious berry commonly found in forests while black and red currant are usually only found in gardens (and thus not available for taking without owners permission...)
