The Protea Hotel President is less than a 2-minute walk from Bantry Bay Beach. It has an outdoor pool with sea views and offers a complimentary buffet breakfast.

All Protea Hotel units are air-conditioned and have satellite TV. The apartments have kitchenettes with refrigerators and microwaves.

The hotel’s position and layout is such that most of the exclusively spacious bedrooms overlook the Atlantic Ocean or Lions Head and Signal Hill. The President is a 4-star, full service hotel, offering disabled facilities and rooms.

Over and above the hotel’s beautiful views, the hotel offers 349 spacious rooms, and some of the largest sea-front conference facilities in Cape Town, seating up to 500 delegates. It also boasts The Islands Restaurant, 24-hour room service, The Senate Bar, The Amber Salon, a massage therapist, curio shop, gym, and wireless internet. There are 200 undercover parking bays, a transport desk, a pool and terrace, and security-controlled and monitored grounds.

Accommodation at the Protea Hotel President comprises 353 well-appointed rooms and suites on the Bantry Bay beachfront. In accordance with new smoking legislation, the hotel now offers 3 smoking and non-smoking floors.

Guests can choose to have either a sea-facing or mountain-facing room, as well as whether to have twin or double beds. The hotel also offers 3 disabled rooms and is designed (by means of ramps and elevators) to accommodate disabled guests.

Kitchenettes are stocked with cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, microwave, toaster and kettle and are perfect for long stays and self-catering. Note: kitchenettes do not contain hot plates or an oven.

Recent refurbishment has seen all of the rooms and passageways re-painted to create a warm and welcoming feeling. You will also find brand new beds and white linen bedding in all rooms. Additional fittings have also been modernised, such as reading lamps next to the beds - leaving the rooms looking modern and fresh.

The Islands Restaurant serves a sumptuous buffet breakfast, an à la carte lunch and buffet dinner. Varied entertainment - in the form of bands, a pianist, or wine tasting - creates a convivial atmosphere for guests wishing to relax and enjoy a splendid meal. (Buffet dinners with entertainment are seasonal and take place from September until the end of April. From May to September, there will be  a new à la carte menu).

The Senate Bar is open from 14:00 till late and the staff look forward to serving you the cocktail of your choice. There is also a lounge area in which you may relax.

For those guests who want to sit outside and relax by the pool, there is the Cabana Bar outside during summer, as well as The Terrace restaurant which serves light meals.

By car:
- Arriving at Cape Town International Airport, take the N2 to Cape Town.
- Once the motorway forks, follow the right fork (Eastern Boulevard).
- When you get to the junction at the end of the motorway (at the
  Waterfront), you will see the Cape Town Convention Centre (CTICC) to
  your left.
- Cross over the traffic lights and turn right at the next set of traffic lights.
- Continue straight ahead, following the signs to Sea Point/Camps Bay.
- Carry on straight ahead at the large roundabout, past Green Point Stadium and Virgin Active Gym and Tennis Club (all on the right-hand side).
- Continue straight ahead at the next set of traffic lights and enter Beach
  Road.
- Follow Beach Road for approximately 3 km, until you get to a smaller
  roundabout.
- Turn left onto Queens Road, then take the first road to your right (Alexander Road).
- The Protea Hotels President is the second hotel on your left.

The Protea Hotel President is just 5 minutes from the famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and Two Oceans Aquarium, as well as Clifton and Camps Bay Beach. The Table Mountain cable way is 10 minutes away and the international airport can be reached in 25 minutes.

There are plenty of shopping opportunities along the Sea Point Main Road, around the corner from the hotel. The Sea Point promenade is a popular jogging and walking spot for locals. It starts in front of the hotel and continues to the fantastic V&A Waterfront. There is also plenty of children’s entertainment here with a park, the blue train picnic area and a maze.

The cultural attractions nearby include the parliament buildings, SA National Art Gallery and a variety of museums, as well as Cape Castle. Robben Island can be clearly seen from the hotel and boat rides to the island depart from the V&A Waterfront. Nature lovers will enjoy the many hiking and walking trails up and along Table Mountain and Lions Head. Just 40 minutes away from the hotel, you will find farms where you can sample the Cape's world-class wines, cheeses and South African farm goods.

Those wishing to experience Cape Town's exciting night life can find many trendy bars and clubs within a 10-minute driving distance.
